Supporting Black heritage lawyers to navigate their careers in partnership with the Black Counsel Forum
To increase the diversity of the legal sector and provide Black heritage lawyers with opportunities to connect we sponsor the Black Counsel Forum, an annual conference for Black heritage legal professionals.
Founded by solicitor Sharon Thomas, the event aims to be a safe space for Black heritage lawyers to learn from each other by sharing lived experiences and best practices. Attendees are equipped with practical road-tested strategies and leadership programmes to help them navigate their careers successfully and network with experienced barristers and solicitors in the UK.
Catering for all levels from seasoned professionals to those starting out in their careers, the conference features presentations and discussions from thought leaders on a range of topics including career planning, developing effective networks and strategies for achieving professional goals.

I was truly inspired by the Black Counsel Forum event, where passionate voices united to discuss diversity and equal representation within and beyond the legal profession. It reaffirmed my belief that through open dialogue and collective action, we can pave the way not only for a more inclusive and just legal profession, but also for a better society.Lawal Ijaodola, Associate, Slaughter and May
For those that attend the Black Counsel Forum it is the chance to build networks, share experiences and mentoring and coaching opportunities. If we are to truly change the face of the legal profession it is essential that Black lawyers can come together to feel connected, supported and empowered.Sharon Thomas, Founder and Executive Director, Black Counsel Forum
