Our response to the Department for Business and Trade’s consultation on proposals to refine the UK competition regime

In our response, we welcome the UK Government’s engagement with businesses and advisers on reforming the competition framework. We provide detailed comments on Department for Business and Trade's ("DBT") proposed changes to merger control, market investigations and remedies, Competition Market Authority ("CMA") governance and accountability, information‑gathering powers, and the role of the Secretary of State in CMA guidance. Our response also considers the implications of these reforms for business confidence, investment and the UK’s position as a leading competition jurisdiction.
