Slaughter and May advised RWS in connection with its acquisition of Obviously Group

Slaughter and May advised RWS Holdings plc, a global AI solutions company, in connection with its recent acquisition of Obviously Group. The acquisition signed on 5 May 2026 and completed the same day.

Obviously is a UK-based technology company that offers a single, fully integrated platform which enables legal, marketing and finance teams to track their brand assets and IP rights, ensure their brand integrity is protected by identifying threats like counterfeits or copycats, and quantify the impact of these infringements. The acquisition of Obviously represents a significant step forward in accelerating RWS’s growth by pivoting RWS to be a technology-first business offering holistic solutions for its enterprise clients.

Slaughter and May worked closely with RWS’s General Counsel, Jane Hyde, and the wider RWS deal team on the transaction.
