Slaughter and May is advising DCMS on the UK Live Events Reinsurance Scheme put in place in response to the coronavirus pandemic

Slaughter and May is advising the Secretary of State for Digital, Culture, Media & Sport on the UK Live Events Reinsurance Scheme put in place by the U.K. Government in response to the coronavirus pandemic.

The UK Live Events Reinsurance Scheme will support live events across the country — such as music festivals, conferences and business events — that are at risk of being halted or delayed due to an inability to obtain COVID-19 cancellation insurance.

The scheme is open to eligible insurers operating in the UK market and 5 insurance coverage providers are supporting the scheme from opening on 22 September 2021.

The Slaughter and May team is being led by partners Craig Cleaver and Robert Chaplin. Isabel Taylor led on aspects related to subsidy control, Jan Putnis led on regulatory aspects, and Peter Wickham on certain public law aspects.
