Slaughter and May advised Legal & General on the establishment of its nature partnerships with the National Trust and the South Downs National Park Authority. These long-term investments will secure high-quality carbon credits from a portfolio of existing and new biodiverse woodlands across the UK, supporting Legal & General’s net zero ambitions and helping the National Trust and the South Downs National Park Authority to accelerate decarbonisation across their land. 

The projects support Legal & General’s commitment to invest in natural capital, and its ambition to facilitate more private sector capital and funding into nature restoration. The investments are the first external partnerships complementing Legal & General’s own Pudding Wood site, where it is planting new wildlife and habitats, expecting to deliver c.25,000 tonnes of carbon sequestration over its lifetime.
