Slaughter and May advised DMG Media on the UK merger control aspects of its proposed joint venture with News UK

Slaughter and May advised DMG Media, a subsidiary of Daily Mail & General Trust plc, in respect of the UK merger control aspects of a proposed joint venture combining the printing operations of Newsprinters (News UK), and DMG Media’s printing sites in Thurrock and Dinnington. The proposed JV is intended to help improve the efficiency of News UK and DMG Media’s print operations and establish a sustainable business model for the future of national newspaper printing in the UK. The Competition and Markets Authority announced on 21 March 2024 that it had cleared the transaction unconditionally following a Phase 1 investigation.
