Daniel is a member of our infrastructure, energy and natural resources practice. He has developed a broad practice advising clients on the structuring of complex domestic and international projects, and also has extensive experience assisting clients in navigating and resolving project development disputes. In conjunction with this, Daniel regularly advises clients on complex commercial contracts, including government support arrangements on which developers increasingly rely.
Having qualified as an electrical engineer (with a specialisation in power and system control), Daniel has a particular interest in energy infrastructure and projects, and in all matters pertaining to the energy transition, providing additional technical and commercial insights to his legal expertise. Daniel is also fluent in French.

- An international data centre developer on a structuring model for European build-out of a portfolio of 1 GW+ development sites
- Tata Steel on a £500 million grant funding agreement from HMG for the construction of an electric arc furnace
- An international chemicals company on government support arrangements and funding for its ongoing operations
- Ferrovial on its UK waste collection and treatment business
- Hyphen Hydrogen Energy as lead global counsel on the multi-billion US dollar structuring and development of a vertically integrated large scale green hydrogen and green ammonia production project
- An international energy company on the development of a green hydrogen project in Jordan and related commercial arrangements with the Government of Jordan

- A nuclear power plant operator on a series of different matters relating to its portfolio of existing nuclear power plants (including capital investment, life extension matters and decommissioning arrangements)
- Ørsted on its disposal of a 50% interest in the 752 MW Borssele wind farm to Norges Bank Investment Management for EUR 1.375 billion
- The Department for Transport on international rail contractual arrangements (including in relation to the Channel Tunnel) and on the development of critical rail infrastructure in the UK
- A bunkering marine fuel supplier on bespoke e-methanol fuel supply agreements
- Drax on its agreement with National Grid ESO for the provision of a “winter contingency” service at the request of HMG
Dispute Resolution
- A number of English football clubs on adjudications and other disputes arising in connection with stadium development or redevelopment work
- An international chemicals company on (i) disputes arising with a joint venture partner in respect of unwinding costs of an end-of-life facility; and (ii) disputes with the landlord of one of its production sites in relation to the redevelopment of part of the site
- An independent power producer on successfully defending an arbitration brought by a Middle Eastern government seeking to invalidate a power purchase agreement providing c. $10 billion of revenues over its term
- A beneficiary under a $183 million on-demand bond issued by a PRC bank on successfully obtaining an arbitration award ordering the bank to honour the performance bond
- An employer on ongoing arbitration proceedings against its EPC contractor in respect of delays and defects which arose in respect of a large power plant
- The charterer of an FSRU on arbitration proceedings against the disponent owner of the Vessel, and on the successful settlement of the dispute
- Various commercial parties on the fallout and impact on their projects of the collapse of ISG
- Essex County Council in a factually complex, technically intricate commercial dispute in the TCC relating to the construction and commissioning of a multimillion pound waste treatment facility by a joint venture between Urbaser and Balfour Beatty, in which we obtained a resounding success for Essex County Council
