Slaughter and May announced as Tech Nation Programme Partner

The law firm will provide legal advice and guidance to the 2021 ‘Future Fifty’ Cohort.

International law firm Slaughter and May today announces it is a programme partner of Tech Nation’s ‘Future Fifty Campaign’.

The Future Fifty is Tech Nation’s flagship programme, aimed at 50 of the most promising late-stage UK technology companies. Partners share insights and professional expertise with the Future Fifty cohort through workshops, one-to-one mentoring, networking opportunities and technical training.

Slaughter and May emerging tech partner Ben Kingsley said, “We’re delighted to be a partner of this year’s Tech Nation Future Fifty, and have the chance to support the great work that Tech Nation and these fifty ambitious and innovative organisations are doing. We always enjoy working with pioneers and helping to remove the legal and regulatory obstacles in their paths – so we’re all looking forward to doing more of this with this fantastic Future Fifty cohort.”

Rob Innes, corporate and tech transactions lead partner at the firm added, “The Future Fifty initiative is a great fit for us, giving us to chance to put our experience of advising all types of companies over the different stages of their development, and across the spectrum of their activities, into practice. We look forward to being part of the journey as the next generation of leading tech companies contemplate further opportunities to grow and start to consider IPOs and other exit opportunities.”

Kieran D'Silva, Co-founder & CFO of PrimaryBid, and a client of the firm, said, "As a graduate of Tech Nation's 2019 growth programme we're delighted to have been selected for this year's Future Fifty. PrimaryBid's mission is to enhance fairness, inclusivity and transparency in capital markets, and our digital platform has now been used by hundreds of thousands of investors and many of the UK's leading public companies. As we scale our business we have much to learn from this fantastic cohort of companies and are excited to be continuing our Tech Nation journey.

“Having worked closely with Slaughter and May on landmark transactions such as the Community Offer for Deliveroo and our own Series B fundraise last year I am delighted that they are involved in this prestigious programme."

Eleanor Weaver, CEO at Luminance, a long-time legaltech collaborator with Slaughter and May, said, “Programmes like Tech Nation’s Future Fifty are critical for maintaining the pace of innovation and growth in the UK’s thriving start-up and scale-up ecosystem, and Luminance is proud to be one of the next-generation AI technologies included in the 2021 cohort. It is also exciting to see one of our long-standing customers, Slaughter and May, join the Future Fifty family as a partner and advisory panel member. Slaughter and May recognised the power of Luminance to transform document review since its founding in 2015 and has continued to provide valuable support to the business. It is encouraging to see that other thriving UK scale-ups will now benefit from the firm’s advice.”

Slaughter and May’s involvement in the Tech Nation initiative will provide a platform to offer the firm’s institutional M&A and IPO insights to fast-growing Future Fifty companies as they look to the next stages of their development strategies.
