Slaughter and May named "Most Innovative Law Firm in Dealmaking" by the Financial Times

International law firm Slaughter and May was recognised as the “Most Innovative Law Firm in Dealmaking” at the Financial Times Innovative Lawyers Awards Europe 2026. Held at the Natural History Museum in London on the 24 September 2026, the annual award ceremony brings together leading general counsel, law firm partners and legal technologists to recognise leadership and create problem-solving across the European legal sector.   

Slaughter and May won the “Most Innovative Law firm in Dealmaking” award for its advice to John Wood Group PLC on its acquisition by Sidara Limited.  

The firm was also highly commended in the Disputes and Crisis Management category, for its advice to Close Brothers on its successful appeal to the Supreme Court in Hopcraft.  

Claire Jeffs, global head of the firm’s Competition Group was featured in the Financial Times as an innovative practitioner for her work “at the centre of several of Europe’s highest profile merger probes and antitrust actions in recent years.” 

The firm was also named among Europe’s Top 10 Most Innovative Law Firms in Europe in the prestigious FT Law Firm Index Europe 2026, ranking ninth out of 50 participating firms. The firm was recognised for its data and technology, people and talent, and social responsibility policies.
