Slaughter and May advised Direct Line Insurance Group plc (“Direct Line Group”) on its successful defence against a possible offer by Ageas SA/NV (“Ageas”). In its preliminary results on 21 March 2024, Direct Line Group set out its new strategy under the leadership of new CEO, Adam Winslow. On 22 March 2024, Ageas announced that it did not intend to make an offer for Direct Line Group.
Slaughter and May worked closely with Direct Line Group’s in-house Group legal team led by Humphrey Tomlinson, General Counsel, and Company Secretariat team led by Roger Clifton, Company Secretary.
