African & Caribbean Diversity
African & Caribbean Diversity (ACDiversity) was founded in 1990 by a group of black professionals who shared a vision of a dynamic body that promoted the entry, development and advancement of its members into business organisations.
ACDiversity supports over 250 high-potential students of African and/or Caribbean descent from metropolitan state schools. The students participate in a four year programme which teaches them about the value of education through workshops, company visits, university residential sessions and mentoring.
The programme has an excellent success rate: in 2007 ACDiversity students achieved a GCSE pass rate of 87.5%, significantly exceeding the Government's benchmark of 60%. Past students have gone on to attend many of the top universities including Oxford, Cambridge and the London School of Economics.
Slaughter and May supports the charity financially. We also participate in many of its open days and student events where employees from our HR, Learning and Development and legal departments deliver workshops and sessions. A growing number of our employees mentor the students, giving them support and advice and encouragement on a regular and ongoing basis.
"ACDiversity staff, students, trustees and volunteers thank Slaughter and May for its continued support. The generosity and community spirit of its staff are truly appreciated "
Brenda King MBE, Chief Executive of ACDiversity
