The Real Estate Law Review - 10th edition - England & Wales chapter

Developments in Real Estate, in England and Wales prepared for the tenth edition of the The Real Estate Law Review

This chapter focuses on the key legal Real Estate developments and their potential impact on the global Real Estate market. It provides an overview of Real Estate activity and recent developments, as well as considering what lies ahead.

A separate article has also been prepared focussing on the impact of the pandemic on the real estate investment market.

The outlook for 2021 is dominated by the global COVID-19 pandemic and the ensuing uncertainty surrounding economic recovery. However, the indications are that the UK will remain attractive to investors from around the world. Trophy assets continue to be targeted by overseas investors, particularly from Asia. Although much of the global focus will remain on London, interest in the wider UK market from both domestic and overseas investors is a welcome development.

An updated overview of the Real Estate Legal framework includes:

  • foreign investment
  • structuring the investment
  • real estate ownership
  • leases of business premises
  • developments in practice
