The Corporate Governance Review - United Kingdom chapter

This chapter provides an overview of the UK’s corporate governance system which comprises laws, codes of practice and market guidance. The most important code of practice is the UK Corporate Governance Code, which is published and updated periodically by the Financial Reporting Council (which is also a statutory body).

This chapter discusses developments and market practice in the UK’s corporate governance system in relation to:

  • corporate leadership
  • disclosure
  • corporate responsibility
  • shareholders

It concludes with an outlook on what may follow these developments.
