Slaughter and May Collaborate FAQs
Slaughter and May Collaborate is our new legal tech programme. It has been designed to enhance the firm’s engagement with the best new legal tech developers, and to involve clients (through a client panel) in the way we help shape the development of new technology for the legal sector.
Fast Forward offers free legal advice and other benefits to a range of emerging technology businesses. Click here for more information on FastForward.
Collaborate is different in that it provides legal tech developers with access to our lawyers, test data and tech sandbox, to help them develop exciting new products for the legal sector. Legal advice is not included as part of the programme. Collaborate also has both client and expert panels.
If you are accepted onto Collaborate, you will have two dedicated mentors – one lawyer and one member of our Knowledge and Information team - who will design a tailored programme for you, and support you through that programme. This will involve access to the right people, data and resources to help your product grow. For more information on the programme benefits please see our benefits page.
You can apply for Collaborate by completing a short online form. Please click on the link below and follow the instructions on screen. The form asks some basic questions about your team, product/service etc. It also gives you the opportunity to provide additional information – please do let us know anything you think is relevant - the more we know about you and your product/service, the easier it will be for us to make the right decision.
Applications need to be submitted by 28 February 2020. We anticipate accepting successful applicants onto the programme in April and the programme running from April to July 2020.
There are no restrictions on where you are based, but if you are accepted into the programme you will be required to visit our London office (Slaughter and May, One Bunhill Row, London EC1Y 8YY) on a number of occasions throughout the programme.
We want to support exciting innovators and entrepreneurs in the area of legal tech who need help developing their products. There is no minimum size/shape/age/financial position for acceptance into our Collaborate programme. We will be focussed primarily on the strength, uniqueness and promise of the concept or product and on the team involved.
While the programme is primarily aimed at early and mid-stage ventures rather than established businesses, applications are open to legal tech businesses at varying stages of maturity. If you think that you could benefit from the programme then we would love to hear from you.
No. Unlike some other programmes, we do not require those participating in Collaborate to agree an investment opportunity with us.
