Slaughter and May's African Symposium returns to London in its eighth year18 Sep 2019
Slaughter and May is hosting its eighth annual Practical and Legal Exchange African Symposium (PLEASe) in London this week.
PLEASe is preceded by an invitation only Leadership Forum for senior and managing partners sharing experiences of running law firms.
The Symposium, runs from 18-20 September, facilitates the sharing of legal, transactional and commercial expertise among legal and non-legal professionals focused on Africa.
Over 150 delegates from leading law firms across Africa and multinational corporations and government bodies are scheduled to attend the event at Slaughter and May’s London office, including individuals from a number of multinational clients.
The overall theme for this year’s event is “Managing Risk in the context of cross-border M&A in Africa”, with interactive sessions covering the impact of anti-trust legislation and state protectionist policies on M&A across the continent, and case studies exploring risk mitigation strategies.
Nigel Boardman, Chairman of Slaughter and May’s Africa Practice Group, said:
“It’s a privilege to bring PLEASe back to London for a second time. We look forward to welcoming such a diverse range of distinguished guests, all with a desire to share their knowledge and perspective on working in Africa.
“Africa is a vitally important region and we have much to learn from its vibrant economies in many of which legal innovation runs ahead of the rest of the world. We are in for an exciting couple of days.”
