The Symposium will include an excursion on Saturday 11 November 2017 comprising of a private tour of the permanent collection at the National Gallery in Trafalgar Square, London. The excursion will take place at the National Gallery at 8.15am and conclude at 9.45am, when an informal brunch will be hosted until 12.00pm.
The National Gallery
The National Gallery houses one of the greatest collections of paintings in the world. The collection contains over 2,300 works, including many famous works, such as van Eyck’s Arnolfini Portrait, Velázquez’s Rokeby Venus, Turner’s Fighting Temeraire and Van Gogh’s Sunflowers. All major traditions of Western European painting are represented from the artists of late medieval and Renaissance Italy to the French Impressionists.
Venue: The National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, London WC2N 5DN (enter via the entrance to the National Café on St. Martin’s Place)
Time: 8.15am – 9.45am private tour, followed by brunch
