Rob is Head of our Information Technology (IT) and Outsourcing practices.

He advises on the full range of sourcing matters, from Technology and Business Process Outsourcings to strategic sourcing supply arrangements. He also advises on all aspects of IT, e-commerce, data protection and IP.

His IP practice involves advising on the creation, protection and exploitation of IP rights in a diverse range of sectors, including media, financial services, technology and sport. His IT practice focuses on major outsourcing, systems development and integration agreements and the development of global licensing strategies. Rob advises on all aspects of data protection audit and compliance, especially in the areas of corporate and commercial transactions and e-commerce.

Rob also has significant experience in handling the IP, IT and data protection aspects of mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures, and other major corporate transactions.

His recent work includes advising:

  • Cadbury, on various outsourcing arrangements, including on the exit of its telecommunications outsourcing arrangement with BT
  • Ericsson on a number of key strategic network management services arrangements with leading telecoms providers and on Ericsson's successful court case against H3G
  • Aviva on its $1 billion (estimated) outsourcing to WNS, which saw WNS become the long-term strategic BPO service provider to Aviva's business units located in the UK, Canada and Ireland
  • the England and Wales Cricket Board Limited on its major Sponsorship and Kit Supply Agreement with Adidas (UK) Limited
  • HM Treasury on various technology and outsourcing issues relating to the banking reform, including on the restructuring of Northern Rock and Bradford & Bingley

Rob is recognised as a leading individual for Information Technology and Outsourcing in Chambers UK, 2012  and for Commercial Contracts in The Legal 500, 2011. He is a member of the PLC , IPIT  and Communications Law  Editorial Board and the Outsource Magazine  Editorial Board, and also sits on the National Outsourcing Association's Cloud Computing Steering Committee.
