Mike’s practice covers all direct taxes, stamp duties, VAT and, in particular, corporation tax. He has extensive experience in advising on mergers and acquisitions, capital markets transactions, group reorganisations and structured finance.

Highlights include advising:

• Workspace Group PLC, a real estate investment trust (REIT) on a rights issue to raise approximately £63 million and £125 million term and revolving facilities agreements
• John Wood Group on the return of £1.05 billion to shareholders through a tender offer and subsequent B/C share scheme
• Chi-X Europe Limited on the sale of Chi-X to BATS Global Markets Inc.
• Close Brothers Group on the acquisition of a deposit book from Dunbar Bank plc
• Westbrook Partners on the acquisition of various property portfolios
• Prudential on its proposed combination with AIA Group Limited for $35.5 billion

He is a contributor to the Finance Act Handbook and is a regular speaker at various conferences on Tax issues.
