Ian has a broad corporate, corporate finance and finance practice. He advises clients on a wide variety of matters including corporate recovery and insolvency, mergers and acquisitions, joint ventures and structured financings. His practice frequently involves cross-border issues.

Ian worked in our Hong Kong office from 1988 to 1990 and again from 1995 to 2002. Since his return, he has been extensively involved in advising on numerous debt restructurings and insolvencies (both domestic and international), corporate acquisitions and sales and structured financing transactions (for banks and corporates).

He has also advised extensively in relation to the further development of the nuclear industry in the United Kingdom.

Highlights include advising:

• Punch Taverns on the demerger of its Spirit business, comprising approximately 800 managed pubs and 550 leased and tenanted pubs
• Minerva plc on a recommended cash offer by a consortium that values Minerva at approximately £202.6 million
• Deloitte on the enforcement of the security for the Estates & General first mortgage debenture stock due 2008 and 2018

Ian is a member of the Insolvency Law Committee of the City of London Law Society.
