Deborah's practice covers the broad spectrum of commercial litigation, acting for a wide range of our clients on a number of substantial commercial disputes. Her current case load includes a number of matters for various international banks and financial institutions.
Her wide-ranging practice includes advising:
- on the widely-reported claim brought by the Unilever pension fund against Mercury Asset Management
- COLT Telecom in defending an attempt by a US hedge fund to put it into insolvency proceedings
- MyTravel in the litigation which compelled the bondholders to consent to the company’s restructuring
- a private equity investor in a Formula One racing team
Deborah also has wide experience in investigations and inquiries, particularly in the financial services area.
Her recent regulatory experience includes advising:
- MyTravel in the disciplinary proceedings brought by the FSA for alleged listing rule breaches, including representing the client at the RDC and commencing proceedings before the Financial Services and Markets Tribunal
- Abbey National in its negotiations with the FSA over the stabilisation of Scottish Mutual and Scottish Provident
- Prudential on the enforcement proceedings arising out of its pensions review
- a number of major listed companies involved in FSA investigations into alleged market abuse and listing rule breaches
Deborah is named as a leading individual for Banking Litigation (in which she is ranked top) and Dispute Resolution in Chambers UK, 2010; and for 'Banking Litigation' and 'Commercial Litigation' in The UK Legal 500, 2009. She is also listed for Dispute Resolution in Chambers Europe, 2009 and Chambers Global, 2009.
