David has a broad commercial real estate practice incorporating property development, the acquisition and disposal of investment property portfolios, the negotiation of commercial leases for both landlords and tenants, sale and leaseback transactions and structured financing. He has a wide range of experience in the area of flotations and public offerings and has been involved in the property aspects of a number of high profile corporate mergers and acquisitions.

His recent work includes advising:

  • Global Infrastructure Partners on the real estate aspects of its agreement with BAA Airports Limited to acquire London Gatwick Airport for £1.455 billion and related £1.125 billion debt financing
  • Unilever on the real estate aspects of the acquisition of Worldwide Body Care and European Detergents businesses of Sara Lee Corporation
  • John Lewis Partnership on a contribution of £95 million to its defined benefit pension scheme via an interest in a property-backed partnership
  • Whitbread on the disposal of the David Lloyd health club business to Versailles Bidco, a vehicle controlled by London & Regional Holdings and Bank of Scotland, for £925 million
  • Marks and Spencer on its contributions of £900 million of value to its UK defined benefit pension scheme via an interest in a property-backed partnership
  • Punch Taverns in relation to the disposal of 14 portfolios of leased and managed pubs
  • INEOS on the real estate aspects of the disposal of its international fluorochemicals business to Mexichem SA
  • Centrica on the sale of 50 per cent interest in its Lynn, Inner Dowsing and Glens of Foudland wind farms and related £340 million project financing
