David’s practice covers Outsourcing, Information Technology and Intellectual Property. In particular, he advises on strategic IT, telecoms and business process sourcing; software licensing and development agreements and the IT aspects of M&A transactions, as well as all aspects of IP protection and exploitation including a particular focus on franchising and sponsorship.
Highlights include advising:
- YTL Communications on an agreement to license and develop patented technology and software to build the world's first hybrid broadcast - 4G WiMAX broadband TV and internet content delivery platform
- Carillion on a number of strategic sourcing projects including the prospective outsourcing of various back-office functions, the outsourcing of its internal IT services provision to Accenture and the sale of it own outsourced services business to Capita
- ITV in connection with its five-year arrangement to outsource its IT service management, infrastructure and application management services to Accenture
- Marks and Spencer in relation to its global franchising network
- Standard Life on the disposal of its private medical insurance business to Discovery Healthcare, including IT and brand separation issues arising in relation to the disposal
