We have been at the forefront of deals in the Middle East and Africa for many years. Our work varies widely. Of particular note is our infrastructure, energy and natural resources experience with its strategic focus on major infrastructure projects. We advised on the first LNG deal in the region - Qatargas; all LNG deals in Oman and Egypt; the first GTL deal in the region; the first petrochemicals project in Egypt; and an airport privatisation and IPP in Jordan. We also recently structured and advised on setting up the first African private equity fund.

European Investment Bank (EIB), international and Egyptian lead arranging banks (led by The Bank of Tokyo-Mitsubishi) and Law Debenture Trust Corporation on the refinancing of the US$950 million project finance facilities for ELNG Train 1. We also advised the international lenders and local banks and EIB on the US$880 million project financing of ELNG Train 2.
Egyptian Methanex Methanol Company S.A.E. (EMethanex) and its sponsors on the construction and project financing of a methanol facility in Egypt.
Qatar Liquefied Gas Company and its sponsors on the US$6 billion financing of the upstream and downstream phases of the Qatargas project.
Reliance Industries on its acquisition of a majority stake in Gulf Africa Petroleum Corporation (GAPCO).
State-owned private company in Oman in relation to disputes arising under a 20 year concession agreement for the operation and maintenance of a major power plant.
Telecommunications Regulatory Authority, Bahrain on a range of competition and regulatory matters, including the auction of two national fixed wireless services licences and the associated radio spectrum.
