EU Competition and Regulatory newsletter

  • 12 Mar - 18 Mar 2010
  • Newsletter/briefing

This week's newsletter includes merger control and antitrust developments.

The feature article looks at the increasing trend internationally to impose criminal sanctions on individuals in respect of hardcore cartel activity, and highlights the criminal sanctions which can currently be imposed on such individuals in key jurisdictions. Whilst the European Commission does not have jurisdiction to impose criminal or personal sanctions, it has indicated that it is looking for ways to see whether individuals responsible for cartel activity can be held accountable for their actions under EU law.
