Brexit Essentials: an update on data protection and privacy

This edition of Brexit Essentials looks at the impact of Brexit on data flows and on other aspects of the GDPR. It considers the options for companies post Brexit to legitimise data flows, including considering the future partnership paper published by the UK Government and the position paper published by the European Commission. 

The General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) will come into force before the UK leaves the EU. It will continue to apply to some UK companies post Brexit due to their activities and, in any event, the UK Government has stated that the GDPR will be incorporated into domestic law so that it applies to all.
