Slaughter and May advised Talisman Energy on the acquisition of BP Exploration Company (Colombia) Limited ("BPXC") for approximately US $1.9 billion in cash; and on related arrangements with Ecopetrol SA.‬

The acquisition, which was announced on 03 August 2010 and completed on 24 Jan 2011, was made jointly by Talisman (49%) and Ecopetrol (51%).

BPXC owns BP's oil and gas exploration, production and transportation interests in Colombia.‬

Talisman was also advised by Macleod Dixon (Canada); Osler, Hoskin & Harcourt (Canada); Gamboa & Chalela (Colombia); and Maples & Calder (Cayman Islands).
