United Utilities - Disposal of non-regulated business

Slaughter and May advised United Utilities on the disposal of its non-regulated business. The disposal achieved a total enterprise value of approximately £600 million.

Veolia Water UK PLC acquired the majority of the non-regulated assets. The sale signed on 12 June 2010 and completed on 09 November 2010. The other sales took place between November 2009 and October 2010.

The businesses sold comprise UK and central European operating and financing companies in the water services, infrastructure services, gas and electricity sectors.

United Utilities PLC is a FTSE 100 water company. Veolia Water is a French based water and waste water group.
