Thomas Cook Group - Merger of businesses with Co-operative Group

Slaughter and May is advising Thomas Cook Group on the proposed merger of their high street travel and foreign exchange businesses with the Co-operative Group.

The deal, which was announced on 8 October 2010, will create the UK's largest high street travel network with over 1,200 shops and an enhanced position in foreign exchange.

The new company will be owned 70% by Thomas Cook and 30% by The Co-operative Group. There is no initial cash consideration.
