Standard Chartered - Proposed public issue and listing of Indian Depository Receipts

Slaughter and May is advising Standard Chartered plc ("the Company"), as international counsel, on its proposed public issue and listing of Indian Depository Receipts representing underlying new ordinary shares in the Company ("the Proposal"). The listing is subject to market conditions and further regulatory approvals.

The Company today filed a Draft Red Herring Prospectus with the Securities and Exchange Board of India in connection with the Proposal.

Standard Chartered plc is expected to be the first overseas company to list in India.

Amarchand & Mangaldas & Suresh A Shroff & Co is advising as local counsel on Indian law.
