Slaughter and May is advising NTR plc, the international renewable energy group, on the competition and merger control aspects of the proposed sale of its UK based waste management business, Greenstar UK to Montagu Private Equity (Montagu) and Global Infrastructure Partners (GIP), the controlling shareholders of Biffa, for a gross consideration of £135 million.
Greenstar is based in Aylesbury, Buckinghamshire, and provides recycling waste management services to a large number of blue chip clients in the commercial and industrial sectors. Biffa's owners are buying Greenstar from NTR and plan to merge it with Biffa to create the UK's leading commercial and industrial recycling company.
Slaughter and May is advising NTR/Greenstar on the competition and merger control aspects of the transaction. The corporate and commercial aspects of the transaction are being led by BP Collins.
