Slaughter and May are acting as advisers to HM Treasury, working closely with Treasury Legal Advisers, in connection with the action taken by the Government to implement the measures it had announced on 08 October, 2008 to make investments in the capital of UK banks and building societies to help stabilise their position and support the long term strength of the economy.
In particular, Slaughter and May are acting as advisers to HM Treasury in relation to capital investments in The Royal Bank of Scotland, and upon successful merger, HBOS and Lloyds TSB, totalling £37 billion.
Slaughter and May are also acting as advisers to HM Treasury in relation to the Government’s 2008 Credit Guarantee Scheme for UK incorporated banks and UK building societies.
