Slaughter and May, as part of an integrated team with Uría Menéndez and Davis Polk & Wardwell, is advising Banco Santander, the sixth largest banking group in the world by market capitalisation, on its recommended exchange offer for Alliance & Leicester plc. The exchange offer, worth approximately £1,250 million, was announced on 14 July, 2008 and, subject to the satisfaction of certain conditions, is expected to complete in or about October 2008.
