Slaughter and May advised General Electric Company on the acquisition from Smiths Group PLC of Smiths Aerospace, a UK based supplier of integrated systems for aircraft manufacturers and components for engine builders for US$4.8billion in cash. The agreement was signed on 15 January 2007 and completion is dependent on various conditions being satisfied.
We also advised General Electric Company on the entry into a letter of intent with Smiths Group PLC to create a detection joint venture with a portion of its security business.
