GE - Detection Joint Venture with Smiths Group

Slaughter and May advised General Electric Company on the signing of a formation agreement on 21 March, 2007, following on from the Letter of Intent signed on 14 January, 2007, relating to the creation of a joint venture between its homeland protection business and the detection business of Smiths Group plc.

The New York office of Weil, Gotshal & Manges LLP advised GE on the intellectual property and US tax aspects of the transaction. Other advisers to GE on particular elements included Arnold and Porter LLP, Clifford Chance and O’Melveny & Myers LLP.
