Slaughter and May promotes diversity message through sponsorship of SYLVIA at The Old Vic24 Jul 2018
Slaughter and May, the international law firm, is pleased to announce that it is partnering with the celebrated Old Vic as the production sponsor of SYLVIA, a funk, soul and hip-hop musical based on the life of Sylvia Pankhurst, campaigner for the suffragette movement and daughter of Emmeline Pankhurst.
The production explores the complex and enduring relationships between women at the heart of the struggle for equality, something especially relevant as this year marks 100 years since the first women in the UK were granted the vote. 2018 also sees The Old Vic celebrate its 200th birthday, and the many women who have been a part of its success.
A diverse and inclusive work place is something the firm works hard to achieve and through this partnership the firm hopes to continue the dialogue around how best to achieve this.
It builds on the firm’s recent accolades, which include the Law Society’s Excellence in Diversity Award 2017 and rankings in Stonewall’s Top 100 Employers list 2018; the Top 50 Employers in the Social Mobility Index 2018; and the Best Employers for Race list 2017.
In conjunction with The Old Vic, the firm is putting on a series of events for both employees and clients.

SYLVIA is co-commissioned by 14-18 NOW, the UK’s arts programme for the First World War centenary, with support from the National Lottery through Arts Council England and the Heritage Lottery Fund, and from the Department for Culture Media and Sport.
